Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic preparation of water for injection containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) of benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative. Bacteriosatic Water is packed in a 30 ml multi-dose plastic vial.
What is bacteriostatic?
“Bacteriostatic” is a preservative called benzyl alcohol that is added to sterile water products to prolong there shelf life. Thus making it a “multi dose” injectable called bacteriostatic water.
What is the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water for injection?
Bac water for injection contains a bacteriostatic preservative called benzyl alcohol that is added into the sterile water.
Sterile Water for injection is used for single dose injections. Sterile water is preservative free.
Note: Always speak to your doctor before using Bacteriostatic Water or any injectable products on adults and small children. Do NOT use in newborns and not to be used for inhalation
